Thomas founded Ratio Capital in 2009 with an eye on building a unique culture for advisors and clients to have the most seamless and productive relationship possible. He entered the business in 2005 as an advisor with Mass Mutual but quickly realized that he wanted to create his own company with a culture that strove to align the interests of the advisors with those of the clients.

Thomas has two children and enjoys basketball, golf and dreaming big.

Scott Hofman

Managing Partner

Scott joined Ratio Capital in 2019 after a career working as a financial advisor in the bank channel that included stays at Wachovia, Bank of the West, Citigroup and Union Bank. He left that world to pursue a more client friendly model that would allow him to have a more personal relationship with his clients. He is focused on working clients that value good advice and desire a long term goal-based relationship to get to their desired financial destination.

Scott is married with three sons and enjoys golf, coaching little league and finding the positive side of things.

Chief Investment Officer, Director of Advanced Planning

Joe Maas is our Chief Investment Officer and Director of Advanced Planning. A highly trained financial analyst, Joe is responsible for analyzing current and potential investments for the firm through deep fundamental analysis, researching industry trends, speaking to industry experts and through a thorough understanding and application of quantitative methods and technical analysis. Mr. Maas is very unique because he is certified in so many areas of expertise. He has earned certificates from nine prestigious organizations, and, with over two decades of financial industry experience, his unique core specialty is providing comprehensive investment management  and financial planning services for individual investors, business owners, and trust.

Mr. Maas holds a variety of world renowned professional designations; he is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Charterholder, which is the world’s most respected investment professional’s achievement. In addition to the CFA, Mr. Maas is a certified valuation analyst (CVA) and is accredited in business appraisal review (ABAR). Mr. Maas’ professional capability also includes being a certified merger and acquisition advisor (CM&AA) trained and experienced in buying and selling middle-market companies with revenues from $5 million to $500 million.

Mr. Maas earned his reputation as a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), having fulfilled the requirements of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, and is also a chartered financial consultant (ChFC) qualified to provide comprehensive advanced financial planning.

Adding to Mr. Maas’ many skills are his specialties in life insurance and estate planning as a chartered life underwriter (CLU®) and being a certified commercial investment member (CCIM™) with expertise in commercial and investment real estate. In 2000, Mr. Maas earned his Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) from The American College.

Expert in many fields, Mr. Maas is a member of numerous professional organizations; he has participated as a guest lecturer for the Washington State Bar Association and taught corporate finance as an adjunct professor at Seattle Pacific University. He conducted post graduate finance studies in Japan, Hong Kong, China, and Thailand.

Carrie Casey

VP of Human Resources

Carrie has been with Ratio Capital since it was founded in 2009. She has over 20 years of experience in Human Resource Management and has held an Insurance license for 10 years.  Some of the fields that she has been involved in are law firms, medical device manufacturing, banking, relocation services, and IT staffing. Carrie’s experience in human resources has allowed her to work in all manners of functional areas including administrative support, full circle performance management, coaching, counseling, policy development, training and development, and as a Human Resources business partner in the management team. Carrie’s experience in managing the health and welfare benefits for these organizations has allowed her the unique insight to solve problems, navigate through the laws and provide solutions to our clients.

Carrie has been involved in many organizations in the human resource field including the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Professional in Human Resources Association (PHRA).

Carrie has spent 10 years in Hong Kong and Beijing, China. Her interest in other cultures has allowed her to develop specific training courses designed to enable the understanding of other cultures allowing the integration of diverse and multiple cultures to global organizations.

Jose Tejada

Lending Specialist

Jose joined Ratio Capital in 2019 after spending 11 years as a private banker with Union Bank. He specializes in unique lending solutions for clients with a wide variety of credit. Jose prides himself in finding creative solutions to seemingly impossible lending situations. He also holds his Series 65 license and works with Ratio as an asset manager for many of his lending clients.

Jose is married with one daughter and enjoys networking, soccer and spending time with his family.
